HUNGRY FOR THE HUNGER GAMES

the-hunger-games-birdy__oPt.jpg

Check out this New York Times article regarding the marketing strategies for the Hunger Games that is about to debut. According to this article, the movie cost about $80 million and could have an opening weekend revenue of about $90 million. This claim far exceeds the first Twilight movie and was projected using the 17.7 million views on YouTube. The interesting thing is they have used Facebook and Twitter to gain participants acting as if they are apart of the population of the fictional city of Panem. They use many integrated marketing communications strategies to achieve the hype associated with this film coming out Friday. The film production company, Lionsgate, also has intentions to turn the film into a franchise, using games associated with the film. I would highly recommend this book, for everything it is built up and marketed to be, it is. Watch out Bieber, there's a new fever catching on.

BRAND PERSONALITY

If the Apple brand were a person, what would they be like?

Many of us would probably respond with geeky, intelligent, smart, and innovative.... or something to that effect. It is interesting to see how people would respond when thinking of the different types of brand personalities are associated with a particular brand.

How would you think these brands would be like at a party?

Patagonia would probably be hanging out with similar friends, such as North Face and Marmot discussing rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, and other outdoorsy activities to that affect. They would be talking about what sweet cliffs they dropped the other day at Bridger and a sweet spot for rock climbing around the area.

Rockstar would be doing a keg stand to impress Red Bull, the leader of Sigma Energy, among the other girls at the party. He would be the life of the party and very loud so everyone knew he was present.

Does the brown M&M identify with a certain personality in this commercial? She is wearing glasses and has a look of sophistication... until she dances to the "Sexy and I know it" song. M&M uses multi colored themes to portray to different kinds of people. Brown usually signifies convention and order, and this video demonstrates how she breaks out of her "shell" and disrupts that order.
